Meet Jasper, a three year old Pug!

About Jasper

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Current Age: 13 Years 6 Months (best estimate)
  • Housetrained: Yes

Jasper is a stocky, little guy who loves to be with other people or dogs. He is friendly and loving and enjoys taking a brisk walk where he can see new things and meet new dogs and people. He's very good on leash

and doesn't pull, until he's done with his walk, then he may try to pull you home! His foster mom is working with him to keep walking in the direction of the pack, which he's

getting better about. He also needs to stay on leash inside and out for awhile until he trusts a new family. He will run off at a park or hide inside the house or play chase with you if you are just

trying to get him back. He thinks it's a game so he does still need some training with "come here" and with "wait" so he doesn't run into or out of the house.

He can sometimes get a little spooked out by new things, noises and places, but he quickly gets curious and wants to investigate and get over his fears, especially when he knows

he can trust a human who "has his back." He has woken up at night and will sometimes growl or bark at a scary, new noise, but when he's cuddled up and told to go back to sleep, he

calms down very quickly and snuggles back up. And yes, he wants to be right next to you in bed or on the couch, curled into a little ball with his head on your shoulder, arm or chest.

His foster mom hasn't observed any problems with chewing, scratching, howling, or digging. He was good getting a bath though he didn't enjoy it (his ears and tail were down). He curls

up in a dog bed in the back patio in the sun for hours as long as there's a large bowl of water nearby. No house accidents have occurred with regular walking and taking him out a few times

a day. Very trainable and adaptable to change. He wants to know what will make you happy. He's good with other dogs. Not really drawn to children but no negative attitudes observed.

Disinterested in cats and birds during walks (will introduce him to some cats this week to see his reaction!). Doesn't like skateboarders and may try to chase them off if off leash!

Very sweet dog that will make a great addition to a single person or family who wants to spend time giving him some attention and love. A great little companion!
