1. How to Donate Money: California Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and all donations are tax deductible. Paypal: The easiest way! Click on the "Make a Donation" button below to get to PayPal (send us money at VickiBenson@att.net.) Amazon Wish List: We have a wish list on www.amazon.com. You can find our list at http://tinyurl.com/857xdwv or simply go to Amazon's website, click on Gifts & Wish Lists and search for California Animal Rescue.
Check: We have no shelter as we foster out of our homes, and adopt out of local pet stores. You may send us a check (payable to California Animal Rescue), to P. O. Box 2179, Healdsburg, CA 95448. Or you can contact our rescue coordinator, Vicki Benson, at 707-293-4470 to send her a check directly. Cash: We have donation boxes available at our mobile adoptions every Sunday at Petco, Santa Rosa Avenue, from noon - 3pm. Or, if you have a BIG cash donation to make, please contact us at 707-293-4470 and we'll be happy to make arrangements. 2. Where does the money go? We are a 100% all volunteer rescue. Some of us have day jobs, some of us are retired, but this rescue is a labor of love for all of us. Since we have no physical shelter, we foster in our homes and adopt out at local pet stores and we can devote most of our money where it's really needed, to the animals' food and medical care. We've worked hard to negotiate discounts for just about everything - the less our costs, the more we can meet the medical bills to help out the the sick and injured animals that often come our way. Here's where your dollar goes: 67% Veterinarian & Rx 14% Vaccinations, other medical supplies, Microchips 12% Food and pet supplies 4% Transportation expenses 3% Office supplies, signs, photocopies, health records 3. Wish I could donate but I don't have any money! Besides donating money, there are many other ways to help the animals: FOSTER: We always need foster homes for dogs, puppies, kittens, moms and kittens and bottle-fed kittens. All of the food, supplies and medical treatment is provided. You need to provide a safe, loving environment to raise the animals until they're ready to be spayed/neutered and put up for adoption. The committment time averages about 2 months. It is an incredibly rewarding experience, even if you only do it once. Fostering involves feeding, cleaning, socializing, and often dealing with illness. DONATE SUPPLIES: We are always in need of towels, cat/dog carriers, electric heating pads, humidifiers, thermometers, cat toys, cat scratching posts, dog leashes and collars. Please contact Vicki at 707-293-4470 if you have any items you'd like to donate. Or, perhaps you are a garage sale fiend or thrift store shopper? Many of these items can be purchased at garage sales and thrift shops for very little. DONATE TIME: Here's how several people/groups are helping us: Hair of the Dog - Amy and Heather do a fabulous job grooming all the CAR dogs. They can be reached at (707) 331-3143 or visit them at 2770 Stony Point Rd, Suite G, Santa Rosa, CA 95407. The Bark Side - Heather Ausburne at The Bark Side grooming salon takes care of our Facebook page. She can be reached at (707)-544-4838 or thebarksidegrooming@gmail.com.
